New Westminster

New Westminster is one British Columbia’s largest marketing and industrial centres. The city is home to more than 70,000 people and its one of Canada’s busiest ports and a major rail junction. New Westminster is nestled on the north bank of the Fraser River. The city is known for the production of forest products and for housing several industries including oil refining, distilling, food processing, ship building, and brewing. 

Famous for being the former capital of British Columbia, New Westminster is surrounded by several other major cities in the area.  The city is bordered by Coquitlam to the northeast and Burnaby to the north and west. Vancouver is only about 20 km or a half-hour drive to the west while Surrey is just southwest of the city on the other side of the river.
